The impact of Wolfram Alpha on mathematics learning in tenth grade students
Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction: Numerous studies highlight that tools such as Wolfram Alpha enhance learning autonomy, promote the active exploration of concepts, and facilitate the connection between theory and practice in problem solving. Objectives: To determine the use of Wolfram Alpha as a support tool in the teaching-learning process of mathematics in basic education students of the Jaime Roldós Aguilera School. Methodology: a mixed methodology and a quasi-experimental design were used, using pre- and post-tests, surveys, and interviews. Results: The results showed an improvement in academic performance, with an increase in the average grade from 7.22 to 8.5 points (13%), as well as an increase in students' motivation and autonomy. Teachers recognized its pedagogical potential, although they mentioned limitations in connectivity and technological training. Conclusions: The study concludes that Wolfram Alpha strengthens conceptual understanding and complements traditional teaching through active and interactive learning. General area of study: education digital environments. Specific area of study: education. Type of item: original.
